How to read it

Each table is one tariff line (a Harmonized System code) that an industry buys or sells, with the countries the United States imported it from in the latest month UN Comtrade has published, about two months after it ends. Shares are of that month’s total; the change compares the same month a year earlier. Concentration is the Herfindahl index of country shares: above 2,500 one or two countries dominate supply.

Taiwan appears in UN data as “Other Asia, not elsewhere specified”; it is named here. Imports show where goods cross into the United States from, not where every input inside them was made.
